Hi Everyone,
My Name is Jenni Hodgson, I am a self employed website owner from Somerset.
I thoroughly enjoy working for myself as I have never been great at taking orders from people, (well, not horrible people anyway!), so it suits me very well indeed! I shall start by explaining a little about myself and my life so far...
I have lived in 24 different places, which is made even more extraordinary considering I am only 23; I think that this has made life easier in some ways. I find it very easy to meet new people and try new things, I’m not afraid to just walk up to people I don’t know and start a conversation, which is probably a good job because if I wasn’t able to do that I would have no friends at all.
I used to study Music Technology at college but I had to give that up due to a lack of funds. I then went on to work as a sales consultant for a furniture company for 4 years which paid a decent wage, considering how young I was at the time, and there I stayed for four years. I can’t really remember a period of my life that has been so boring and miserable!
I had to find another way so I started selling small amounts of products on Ebay in my spare time and I was eventually able to reduce my hours at hell! I experienced problem after problem but I knew that my only option was to keep going. With no GCSE’s or finished further education I couldn’t really think of any other way to get anywhere in life, so with my favourite motto (‘No guts no glory’) and a lot of determination, I battled on. I decided to make the daring move to work for myself full time, it was probably a little premature in retrospect but I felt like I was going to die from exhaustion, and then things started to get slightly easier (for a while!!). I never thought it would be easy, and it hasn’t been, but I would still advise anyone that wanted to give it a go to do it.
Things are getting a lot easier now and more exciting. All of the teething problems that I experienced seem to be a distant memory and I can’t wait to see what’s ‘round the corner.
My Ebay store FancyDressToImpressUK has many repeat customers and the feedback is great. I will be increasing my range of products in the summer which will hopefully increase my profits! I have much more time these days to make improvements that I want to make, instead of fixing problems like I used to.
I have even had time to branch out and open my own website...
...selling sexy lingerie and shoes. It’s great to have the control over all of the decisions as this is what I felt I was missing in my old job.
When i have spare time I like watch films, my favourite film is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, with the sexy Johnny Depp, it must be the funniest film I have ever watched!
My favourite actor is Robin Williams, I think I am actually in love with him, all of my friends think I’m mad as he is the person I always tell people I fancy from TV!! I don’t care if he’s twice/ possibly three times my age, he’s lovely! I wonder if Ladies nights could arrange for him to be my G-string Jeeves?!
I once did a tandem skydive, although I don’t think I’ll be taking it up as a hobby any time soon, it was great though. I was smiling constantly for about a week afterwards! Anyway...thanks for reading about me, I hope my eventual success might inspire someone else to try to start their own business, despite the problems it’s worth it in the end.
